Biography

Mr. Powell specializes in the establishment of planned developments and golf course oriented master planned communities.

This practice includes mapping of subdivisions, preparing management documents for condominiums and planned developments, coordinating merchant builder programs, and verifying compliance with governmental and secondary mortgage market regulatory agencies. Mr. Powell also advises clients regarding the purchase and sale of real property, which includes preparing sales agreements, negotiating and drafting options, and negotiating title policies and endorsements.

Mr. Powell received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Magna Cum Laude, from Whittier College in 1971. He received his Juris Doctorate from University of Southern California Law Center in 1974, where he was Order of the Coif and a member of Law Review and Moot Court Honors Program.

Mr. Powell was admitted to the California Bar in 1974. He was a member of the California Department of Real Estate Subdivision Advisory Committee from 1991 to 1996. He has frequently lectured on real estate topics to groups including the BIA and California Department of Real Estate.

Mr. Powell is active in the community and has served on the Board of Directors of the Orangewood Children's Foundation since 1982. He co-founded LA CASA, an auxiliary to the Orangewood facility. Mr. Powell received the Carnation Community Service Award in 1981
